The family of the late Cliff Dorrington visited Porthdinllaen RNLI Station recently to present a cheque for £2,020 to the charity in memory of their late father. Mr Dorrington's daughter Jane explained:'Our father who passed away in 2015, was full of admiration of the wonderful lifesaving work the RNLI and its voluntary crews did and was always an avid supporter of the charity. We decided to hold a fundraing evening back in the Midlands with the proceeds of the evening being donated to the RNLI. He was of the opinion that Porthdinllaen was one of the prettiest loctaions he had ever visited.'
Caroline added: 'Our father was born in the Midlands but had lived in Dinas near Morfa Nefyn for the last fifteen years. He was well aware and admired the invaluable work of the volunteers who man the lifeboats around our coast. He had his own yacht moored at Pwllheli, which he would sail regularly in Caernarfon and Cardigan Bay.'
Caroline, Jane and Rosemary visited Porthdinllaen Station and were given in depth tour of the lifeboat and station by members of the local volunteer crew.
Ken Fitzpatrick, Launch Operations Manager at Porthdinllaen, added:
'We are extremely grateful to the family for their generous donation. Crew members gave the family a tour of the boat and station and gave an insight to the work and history here at Porthdinllaen.'
